  • Ingredients: citric acid, triterpenic saponins, and limonene
 is supposed to reduce the manual cleansing of the gardyn. Maybe the tank had less of a ring. The pods and cubes still had brown biofilm a
nd green algea. Granted I let it run a month. Did not expect it to help with the seepage/evaporation issue that has gotten worse since the deep clean disassembly. Think I'll return to the less expensive h202. Probably don't need to explore FoN mentioned by users.

Accidentally broke off one of my mature borage plants. Steeped it in my drip coffee pot. This was darker that one leaf in cooling water. Like the smell.  Tastes OK.
I was just as relieved to have a spot open up. (Would have planted outside if freezing were not a concern.) Then I found a borage plant in with a lettuce and bigger. Pulled it out and gave it a home of its own.

From the greens it was hard to tell the rooted mint from the source. The older had a runner that was a challenge to get out from behind the tubing going between sections. Boiled the harvest this morning (even tossed two eggs in). Do I like it better because I toss sugar in?

The tomato is another that I rooted a cutting from. Last month it was alive. This month it had several long branches hiding in the back. I am horrible at noticing and trimming those growths coming in at VS.
My 3 cherry tomatoes came of the old one draped to the left. As I look at trellises for the peas, I am thinking maybe I should tie my tomatoes and get another light or three.

Lemon balm joins Thai basil in not getting used enough. Need to plant parsley and dill. Think I already started rosemary and green onions.

Gardyn cycled out one of my fast growing favorites, green mustard. Have one growing now and maybe one in stock.

Thinking maybe I put the thinned out kale in the system too soon. One is approaching eating size and the other is still tiny.

You may remember Garden recommends a monthly refresh to keep things in balance and a deep clean every six months. You may also remember that I chose to actually refresh more ofen at two weeks.  As my time away passed I kept stretching the time out, developing bad habits. I think the only spreadsheet updates I have been logging are the arrived seeds. I've actually been home noshing daily for a while now. None the less I found myself letting the water get low as the 28 day count down expired and so busy I just added more water and fertilizer. So how bad is it?  The water looked comparable as did the biofilm inside (the early GSE  trial seemed to make that worse). There was a lot more chrystalized gunk at the seams. Actually took two passes with h202 and a toothbrush. It was more I was doing it at night and when I turned the LEDs back on, I realized I did a poor job. Homemade Kefir?

 UNDER CONSTRUCTION Related Background: At age 50 a colonoscopy was recommended. Then eating more fiber was recommended. Missed my year round garden to graze from to support the fiber. That's why this blog has been mosty about my Gardyn for a while.  This summer (2024)  I was treated for diverticulitis with several rounds of antibioutics. For a time I was on special diet . (That's not either of the links I remember.) So now I am in the long slow process of trying to repopulate my gut and reintroduce foods back into my diet. My body notices if I skip a pill or take a different brand with different contents. When I finally got in to see the specialist, he encouraged my approach of taking probiotics, both tablets and the range of fermented foods. the perfect strawberry

The perfect strawberry. I have lots of open spots this week and thought to order more bareroot strawberries,  but they're out until fall. Why are there spots open? Two of my lettuces bolted. Normal aging cycle or too warm? Two of my lettuces died. :( This is a first. Did I let them get too big and then harvest too much? A baby kale also died? Did i expose it to fertilizer too soon? Are they  not getting water? The assistant Kelby has not said a thing other than maybe a camera is blocked and things may burn too close to the light, and the usual water level messages. (I wonder how much the ypods hold.) It seems like a good time to refresh the water and maintain each plant. ... Once the plants were out and I cleaned,  I made sure water was trickling through.
