the perfect strawberry

The perfect strawberry.

I have lots of open spots this week and thought to order more bareroot strawberries,  but they're out until fall. Why are there spots open? Two of my lettuces bolted. Normal aging cycle or too warm?
Two of my lettuces died. :( This is a first. Did I let them get too big and then harvest too much? A baby kale also died? Did i expose it to fertilizer too soon? Are they  not getting water? The assistant Kelby has not said a thing other than maybe a camera is blocked and things may burn too close to the light, and the usual water level messages. (I wonder how much the ypods hold.)

It seems like a good time to refresh the water and maintain each plant. ...
Once the plants were out and I cleaned,  I made sure water was trickling through.
Recently I have been not using the watering hole due to the dense growth. I've been pouring the water through the pipes.  I decided that I liked pouring at chest height instead of shin height. For the sake of variety I did all three, and woops I've got water outside the system. Found more roots to remove; probably Tokyo bekana. No wonder there were green spots on the lid. :(  (like my dolly for moping up the floor)

What did I start? Not sure why I chose arugula as it bolted early last time. I have lots of little sprouts. I also chose to try red tatsoi. Forgot to start a lettuce. And a new box arrived.

It is about a month to throw oversized things outside. I started cuttings of basil and thai basil, intending baby plants. Also stuck in a stalk of grocery bought parsley since that did not germinate. ...? Hang in there borage. It has gone from one stalk to many and continues to flower. A pity I am not more fond of eating it and nervous to boot. (Where did that phrase come from?) Still hoping the deer won't like the fur. The tomato is spreading over the trellis and flowering. The pea has some fresh growth near the base, but still no flowers.  Have not added lights.  The calendula got a severe pruning and a dousing. There's a few little somethings flying. The sundew has looked better.  I forget to water it at times.

And so it goes...
